Kean University Relief Fund
The Kean University Foundation is participating in Giving Tuesday. This global day of giving follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday which are traditionally considered the start of the holiday gift giving season. During the 24-hour campaign, millions of dollars are raised to help charities across the globe as a way to give back after shopping all weekend. Kean is encouraging alumni, students, faculty and staff to participate in Giving Tuesday with a donation towards the Kean University Relief Fund.
This fund, formerly named the Kean University Sandy Fund, was originally established five years ago after New Jersey was devastated by Superstorm Sandy. Now the new Kean University Relief Fund will assist alumni, students, faculty or staff members who are impacted by any disasters.
Over the last few months, we witnessed hurricanes and wildfires destroy homes and lives in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and California. Different organizations at Kean have done their part by collecting supplies to send to the affected areas. However, sending supplies is just one way that Kean can help those affected. As we receive more and more donations to the Kean University Relief Fund, we will also be able to financially support our community.
The Kean University Relief Fund will provide appropriate support for all members of the Kean University Community – alumni, faculty, staff and students – who have been directly impacted by a disaster, natural or otherwise, in different ways.
Eligibility to receive funds is based directly on the level of financial need and/or academic status of the affected individuals. Student(s) must remain registered at Kean in order to receive assistance. Alumni, faculty and staff will be assisted based on verification of alumni status or employment status. In the spirit of the holiday season, please consider making a donation to the Kean University Relief Fund this Giving Tuesday.
This year you will make a difference by helping a member of our Kean family, but remember that the funds will be there for you, too, should you ever need them. If you or someone you know may be in need of support, please visit https://www.keanfoundation.org/relief_fund. An application and FAQs can be found there.
THANK YOU for your support!
